What you'll actually pay — compared, line by line

Every figure on this page is sourced from each provider's own site or independently reported UK rates, with links at the bottom so you can check them yourself. Where a provider doesn't publish a number, we say so instead of guessing.

2. How the four providers compare

Just Eat, Foodhub and Mealzo don't publish the same kind of pricing LonexPOS does — this table shows exactly what each one does and doesn't disclose.

Platform Monthly cost Commission per order Your own branding Till / EPOS included
BordersPOS / LonexPOSUs From £29/mo
Till alone from £29/mo; Till + Website Ordering from £48/mo. All prices exclude VAT — see the price builder above.
0%
No commission on any order. Card payments run through your own Stripe account — standard Stripe UK rate of 1.5% + 20p per transaction applies, same as any Stripe user pays.
Yes — your own domain, logo and colours Yes, from £29/mo
Just Eat for Business No published monthly fee
Standard commission contract has no monthly subscription — you pay per order instead.
14% + VAT (self-delivery) or 30% + VAT (Just Eat delivers)
Plus a per-order fee: 50p + VAT if you deliver yourself, or 5% of the order value (min 50p, capped at £1.99) if Just Eat delivers.
No — orders come through the Just Eat marketplace, not your own site No — a separate EPOS system is needed alongside it
Foodhub Weekly rental, amount not published
Foodhub charges EPOS rental weekly rather than monthly, set in your own agreement — not a published figure.
0% claimed on your own direct orders
Markets itself as commission-free, but online card payments must go through its own payment partner, Datman — reported by third parties at 3.4% + 20p per transaction, noticeably above a standard UK card rate.
Partial — branded ordering tied to a Foodhub subscription package Available as part of a package
Mealzo Not published
No monthly fee, package price, or payment-processing rate is published anywhere on Mealzo's own site.
0% claimed
Markets itself as a 0%-commission platform; we could not independently verify a specific monthly cost or processing fee — ask them directly.
Yes, on their ordering platform EPOS offered, pricing not published

All figures ex VAT unless stated. Just Eat's rates are the most commonly reported 2026 UK figures from independent guides, not an official published rate card — Just Eat negotiates per account, so confirm your own rate with them directly. Foodhub and Mealzo both run quote-based pricing; where we couldn't independently verify a number, we say "not published" rather than estimate one.

3. Worked example: 500 online orders a month

£20 average order value → £10,000 in monthly online revenue. Same assumptions applied to every provider.

Platform Estimated monthly cost How it's calculated Revenue kept
BordersPOS / LonexPOSUs ≈ £298/mo £48 (Till + Website Ordering, ex VAT) + £250 Stripe processing (1.5% of £10,000 + 20p × 500 orders) ≈ 97%
Just Eat — self-delivery (14%) ≈ £1,650/mo £1,400 commission (14% of £10,000) + £250 per-order fee (50p × 500), ex VAT ≈ 84%
Just Eat — their delivery (30%) ≈ £3,500/mo £3,000 commission (30% of £10,000) + ≈£500 per-order fee (5% of each £20 order), ex VAT ≈ 65%
Foodhub ≈ £440/mo + rental ≈£440 Datman processing (reported 3.4% of £10,000 + 20p × 500) plus an unpublished weekly rental on top Varies — rental not published
Mealzo Not published 0% commission claimed; no monthly fee or processing rate published to calculate against Unknown

Illustrative only. BordersPOS/LonexPOS and Just Eat figures are calculated directly from each provider's own published or widely-reported rates (Stripe UK: 1.5% + 20p per transaction). Foodhub's figure uses a processing rate reported by third parties for its mandatory Datman gateway, not a number Foodhub itself publishes — treat it as an estimate. Mealzo publishes no rate we could calculate against. Your real cost depends on your order volume, basket size and the contract you agree.

The trade-off, honestly

Marketplaces like Just Eat put your menu in front of people already browsing for food — that discovery is worth something, especially for a new venue. The commission is the price of that reach.

BordersPOS / LonexPOS doesn't replace discovery — it replaces the toll on orders from customers who already know you: regulars, people who found you on Google or Instagram, or anyone scanning a QR code at the table. For most established venues, that's the majority of orders.

Plenty of venues run both: a marketplace listing for new customer discovery, and a LonexPOS-powered site and till for everything else — so commission only applies where it's actually earning you a new customer.

Quick summary

  • LonexPOS: flat monthly fee from £29, 0% commission, you own the branding
  • Just Eat: no published monthly fee, but 14–30% commission plus per-order fees
  • Foodhub: 0% commission claimed, weekly rental not published, pricier mandatory payment processing reported
  • Mealzo: 0% commission claimed, no pricing published anywhere we could find
